About La Baïlesse

The Domaine of La Baïlesse was once a vast farming estate.  The agricultural land now lives in the care of neighbours, leaving us surrounded with beautiful rolling landscape views.

The estate now comprises the 18th century Maison de  Maître, the Farmer’s House and a labrynth of handsome barns and outbuildings, which occupy the remaining 4 hectare park.  This is composed of woods, grasslands and landscaped gardens, generating an environment of peace, tranquility and beauty.

The park is a haven for wild-life where, depending on the season, you can spot our charming red squirrels, busy partridge, flashy golden oriels with their beautiful fluting song, exotic hoopoe passing through, tame nuthatches on the bird tables, goldfinches and many more.  In spring you may sometimes spot a pair of boxing hares.

The Maison de  Maître is our private home where we like to garden and cook.  Here we host an intimate Chambres d’Hotes – two bedrooms with private bathrooms – for couples seeking a short break while visiting the area.

The Farmer’s House, situated in a separate part of the estate, has been transformed into a romantic, self-catering holiday gîte, which is known as La Vieille Ferme.  Sleeping 6 people, it is perfect for holidays with friends and family.  We have a cot and equipment for a baby too.  The gite has the exclusive use of the large, heated swimming pool and is surrounded by terraces, a garden and woods.

La Baïlesse is excellently placed for exploring the rich heritage and diverse landscapes of the region.  We are situated right in the centre of the Tarn, mid-way between Castres and Albi, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famed for its immense cathedral and Toulouse Lautrec Museum.

The medieval market town of Realmont and the hilltop village of Lautrec are very close, giving lots of scope for shopping and restaurants.  Our local village of Vénès, has a restaurant and grocery store where you can pick up your croissants for breakfast.
